Originating from the Asian rainforests (China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam), it was in the 6th century that the Chinese domesticated tea. Under the Tang dynasty in China, (618-907), a more popular use of tea developed, outside the medicinal sphere, becoming a refined ritual of daily life. Matcha tea became the drink of the Japanese elite: the Emperor and top government officials, along with the Samurai, drank matcha tea before combat to increase their energy and concentration.
