Orginating from Asia, the orange tree is a hybrid species resulting from a cross between the grapefruit and mandarin tree. This evergreen shrub with thorny branches can reach 10 metres in height. The fruit of the orange tree, the sweet orange, is a berry with a tough, orange skin widely eaten and recognized for its high content of vitamin C. On the surface of the fruit are pockets containing essential oil, which gives the fruit its distinctive fragrance.
