The power of plants

Harungana is a tree with powerful regenerating properties which encourages reforestation by colonising barren soils in Madagascar and Africa. Since time immemorial it has been used by local communities for its many therapeutic benefits. Its leaves improve liver function and also have antiseptic and healing properties, while the orangey-red sap of the plant is very effective in soothing skin conditions.

Skincare Benefits Organic Harungana extract

Clarins Research has proven that organic harungana extract is as effective as retinol, a well-known anti-ageing molecule. In cosmetics, organic harungana extract helps to replenish the skin.

Responsible sourcing

Protecting the soil and biodiversity is a longstanding commitment at Clarins. That’s why we have always given priority to plant-based active ingredients sourced from organic agriculture, grown using sustainable farming methods that respect nature and the health of the soil. Our harungana extract is organically-certified and obtained using a natural and environmentally-friendly extraction process. Because our commitment to responsible agriculture concerns both plants and the people who grow them, in 2013, Clarins set up a fair trade supply chain In Madagascar in partnership with Jardins du Monde with the aim of financing social initiatives that include the construction of community buildings, enlarging schools and equipping new classrooms so as to improve access to health and education.
